Karlie is a typeface designed for the female athlete. Each letter to portray a feminine, athletic design. Inspired by the female athlete, it is designed to be on posters, packaging, or athletic gear for any Nike Women's Athletic Events; Nike Run Club, Nike Train Club, and Nike Marathons. The idea for this typeface came from working at the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco, 2015. Everything was about "her", so shouldn't there be a type designed for her?
Nike featured their Spring/Summer 2015 womens collection in New York City; with models consisting of female athlete Nike sponsors and fashion models, like Karlie Kloss. Karlie represented the brand of Nike and an athletic model very well. This type design is to be described as feminine, fun, athletic, strong, fast, and beautiful. Why not name it after someone who represents that?
Once letters are created in Illustrator, the vectors are then placed in Font Lab. After the entire alphabet, numbers, and symbols were complete the metrics and kearning were adjusted, then uploaded to Font Book and used as a regular typeface!
